Pet Breeding, Licensing, and Identification Laws
Applies to dogs, cats, rabbits, pot-bellied pigs, and ferrets
Having your pet spayed/neutered IS THE LAW after 4 months of age. Breeding pets without a permit IS ILLEGAL. It is also unethical to bring more pets into our community when we already have an over-population in the shelters. Breeding for monetary gain or even by accident is not only illegal but also unwelcome. It puts a burden on taxpayers through increased animal control and sheltering and causes unneeded pet deaths as people buy pups/kits/purebreds instead of loving shelter pets. Please be a good citizen. Clark County Ordinances 10.08.135 and 10.08.132, City of Las Vegas 7.14, City of NLV Chapter 6.16, Henderson 7.10
Vaccinations. Rabies vaccines are required by law for dogs, cats, and ferrets. Other vaccines should be administered as directed by a veterinarian. All jurisdictions require the rabies tag to be attached to the collar of dogs, cats, and ferrets Clark County 10.08, City of Las Vegas 7.12, City of NLV 6.16, Henderson 7.04
License and Tags / Microchips City of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson require that your dog, cat, or ferret be licensed and have the license tag always attached to their collar. Clark County has no licensing requirements but requires all pets to be either tagged or microchipped with the owner’s info. City of LV now requires all dogs & cats to have a microchip.
